It's hard to believe Harper's FIRST BIRTHDAY is only 3 days away! Ahhhhh!!! I'm bummed that I couldn't get anyone to switch days with me so I could spend Friday home with him, but I guess having Thursday and Saturday will be good enough. It just seems like such a big deal to me.
I'm getting super excited for his birthday party this Saturday. I finished making all the party decorations today including some DIY fabric flag garland and tissue pom-poms (find the pom-pom tutorial here). It's going to look so great. Although Harper will not appreciate any of this, I'm having so much fun doing it and can't wait to see it all put together. I also found a couple recipes and made the grocery list for the party. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the cake. I really really want to make a double tiered cake. I've never done this before but after a little reading and getting a couple tips from bakers I'm not so nervous. Everything is done in a simple baby boy theme, basically white, light blue, and lime green. I can totally see myself reusing some of the decorations and ideas for a boy baby shower. It's going to be cute...something I won't always be able to do or say for Harper as he gets older.
The only thing yet to be decided is the weather. I hope and pray for nice weather so we can have guests inside and out. I'm not so sure everyone would fit inside our 835 sq. ft. bungalow. We will see!

Oh, I wish we could make it!! It will be so lovely - you are such a wonderful mommy. :)
So sorry again also that I couldn't watch him on Thursday. :( If we were going to be here I would have!!
No worries, Katie! It will be just fine. Harper won't know the difference, but you know what I mean. I know you would if you could.
We will miss you at the party. How about we do something fun with the boys on a tues or thurs to celebrate their birthdays together?
