The best activity for a hot summer day is to find some water, and Minneapolis has a fabulous spread of FREE pools and pads. Harper is lovin' it! Our favorite find last week was the splash pad at Oak Hill in St. Louis Park.
It has an amazing set up of water fountains, hoses, tunnels, showers, and the best part is Harper can freely play without me standing right next to him ready for him to fall under and not able to grab footing. The whole splash pad has a 0" depth, so it's basically a treated concrete surface with a constant water flow. It didn't take Harper a minute before he was running from one fountain to the next and exclaiming his happiness out loud.
Look at him run through the tunnel of water! He's such a big kid.
Making new friends and learning to share. Josh came with us to the splash pad this past Saturday and took some video. I'll hopefully get a few clips up soon after some editing.
My mom came to watch Harper for the day yesterday, stayed the night, and after a B.U.S.Y. morning of yard work (more like yard and garage makeover!) and housework, we treated Harper to another wading pool, this time only a few minutes from our house. Who knew this little gem of a park was right around the corner?! They also have an amazing looking playground complete with pirates' ship that we'll have to check out next time.
My mom and Harper wading near the cattail fountains.
The water goes from 0" to 2', so it's a perfect blend of Harper being able to play on his own and yet deep enough to really get in the water and swim.
I think this picture really makes me look like a mom. Maybe it's because there's a picture somewhere of my mom in the water helping me or my siblings swim.
We love water...and balls. Chasing all sorts of balls around the pool was definitely the activity of choice.
