A new first.

Josh and I just ordered our first custom furniture piece! We've been wanting to update our living room for a LONG time, but we are just now getting around to it. We started by going through many of our things and selling things we don't need/use on craigslist for some spending cash to use along with a gift given to us. Then, after a lot of research and shopping around a couple furniture stores, we decided on the sofa above. It's the Dulaney Mini Sofa by Rowe. Since we custom ordered it, we don't have a picture of what it will exactly look like, but what I can tell you (if you have good visualization skills!) is that the wood finish is espresso like in the picture with a fabric called "putty," which is a medium grey with a slight brown tone and lighter speckles. The two pillows we got in an espresso brown velvet like the sofa in the picture. We originally were going to go with a more natural colored sofa, but with our other new addition, Harper!, we thought it would be better to go a little darker. We went with the mini version (only 79" long) since we live in a small bungalow and don't plan on ever living in a house with oversized rooms. We thought the size and fabric choices would be very versatile to new spaces and various color schemes.

Since it is a custom order, we of course have to wait a long time before the sofa comes in. It'll be worth it though! We have some spending money left, so the next couple items on the living room list are an armchair, area rug and floor lamp...to later be followed by a media center and new tv. My brother and I started making some occasional tables, so hopefully we'll get around to working on those too. The living room will get there, piece by piece, slowly but surely!

Exciting! I bet it'll be beautiful. We are in desperate need of a new couch and dining room table, but know that it can wait until after baby is here. I look forward to furnishing our house more! Have fun, and yay for leftover spending money for more new stuff :).
