Two-thousand eleven

Happy New Year!

We had a very nice New Years Eve at our friends Kate, Jesse and Jozef's house. Kate made a delicious tortellini soup and homemade bread, and we brought a Caesar salad along. The boys had fun playing together and are more aware of each other's existence. What really cracked us up was when Jozef started crying and Harper followed suit. I wonder what Harper was thinking..."Waaaahhh! I don't know what just happened, but I want my mommy!"

Our friends Allison and Dan were in town for the holiday and stopped by for lunch. It was so good to see them. I made a couple quiches and some potatoes, and Al and Dan brought a salad and cheesecake for dessert. Oh, and Corynn brought her new game, "The Game of Things." It's super simple and lots of fun!

New Years evening we headed down to Mankato but first stopped at a furniture store and purchased our fourth piece of furniture since getting married. So far we've purchased:
-new dining room table with 6 chairs
-rocking chair and ottoman
-sofa
-armchair (just ordered)
Piece by piece our home is looking more put together and reflective of our styles. It's a work in progress! Here's the chair we picked out: (the fabric we chose is the darker blue in the middle)

We got a really good deal on it (50% off, plus tax discount, plus $100 gift card from our sofa being super late), but of course now we have to wait two months for it to show up. In the meantime we're on the search for a new area rug. Any ideas?

Last but not least, this wouldn't be a New Years post without resolutions. So here are a couple I've come up with for myself:
-avoid spending time on Facebook
-clean out and organize the basement
-consume less (avoid making unnecessary purchases & live simply)
-spend as much time as possible with Harper and Joshua

What are your New Years resolutions?
