Nighty Night

Now that I am home two days during the work week I have a couple more nap periods to squeeze in some sewing time if I'm not on laundry/dishes duty. I'd been meaning to make Harper a sleep sack since he grew out of the one he had as a newborn, and even though my mom cut out all the pieces for me back in November or December, I just now got around to putting it together. Isn't it cute?!

Josh thinks the fabric at the top looks girly. Maybe so, but I was being good and using coordinating scraps from my stash. What you can't see in these pictures is the baby blue, super-soft minky lining. Oh so cuddly! Harper does this really sweet thing of resting his head on my shoulder and holding onto a fistful of hair when I rock him in the chair. It melts my heart. I'm going to miss that as he gets older. He already does much better falling asleep on his own in his crib.

For my fellow seamstresses out there, the pattern for this lovely sleep sack is called Hushabye Baby by Favorite Things. It's an easy pattern and would make a great gift for anyone expecting a baby. If you wanted it for use in the warmer months, just line it with cotton or flannel instead of minky. I decided to leave off the trim piece in between the two fabrics. It seemed better suited for a boy this way.

A couple other projects I've finished in the last month or so are Harper's stocking, a queen sized quilt (Chantilly by Fig Tree Quilts)for my friend Jennifer and her now husband, and an outfit (Kimono dress from Little Stitches for Little Ones by Amy Butler) for sweet baby Aubrie. I failed to take a picture of the quilt and outfit, but maybe I can have each of them send me one to post.

The next projects on my list are some gifts I've been meaning to make, which I won't disclose so as not to spoil the surprise for the recipients!

I love sleep sacks! I never made one (just bought them) - but they are awesome!

Grandpa K sneaking onto Grandma K's posting agrees with Joshua -- On viewing the picture across the table at breakfast - remarked; what's Harper doing wearing a dress? Well, glad that he's staying warm and he won't be going out with the guys in his new attire. Thankfully, the pictoral evidence shouldn't cause him any issues until the picture comes out of the box for his future true love to see what an adorable little boy he was.

Hahaha! Harper's "dress" worked wonders though as he slept 10 hours last night!

Poor kid. At least his parents love him!

P.S. His mommy sure did a nice job making, though! Just might need a fabric consult next time. ;)

Hahaha... adorable sleep sack! Fanda is also onto his second one, I feel safer knowing he cannot pull a blanket over himself at night. And he always knows it´s sleep time when I zip him in. I like the idea of buttons on the top instead of a zipper like we have.

There's actually a zipper down the side for easy diapering and Velcro over the shoulders to get him in easily.

Umm...yeah you better have them send a picture! I want to see a picture of the quilt and dress you made the two of your friends. I bet they are awesome! The sleep sac looks very comfy and I bet Harper enjoys it. Loves that sweet boy! He's so cute and growing up so fast.
