Babu!

As most of you know, Josh and I are having a baby this coming April! We've nicknamed him/her "Babu" because Josh was once chatting with me online and misspelled baby as babu, and it just stuck. It beats having to call Babu "it" or "the baby!" We are planning on not finding out whether Babu is a boy or girl until he/she is born. We have until the end of November to change our minds (that's when we'll have our 20 week appt.), but we're pretty sure we want it to be a surprise. My next appointment is this Friday morning. Aside from all the normal check ups, we'll be able to hear the heart beat again. I can't wait until Friday as by the time three weeks have gone by since my last appointment, I start to get nervous and worried about something going wrong. Josh reassures me that everything is just fine, especially since Babu is starting to make me bump out a little! I'd best get off to bed. I was pretty tired at work today and need all the sleep I can get!

Weekend in Wisconsin

Our friends, Bryan and Kari, invited us for a weekend at their parents' cabin in Wisconsin. It was incredible to not have any plans and anywhere to be. We had a great time staying in our pajamas until late morning, sitting and chatting by a warm fire, playing with their beautiful daughter, and just enjoying being with friends. We also went for a short walk after the snow had melted (it fell the night before and was mainly slushy). Our weekend with Bryan and Kari would not have been complete without playing Ticket to Ride, so we made sure before dinner on Saturday that we squeezed in a close game.

Today started out with an early morning of driving from the cabin to our church in Minneapolis. We both are now singing in the choir and didn't want to miss Reformation Sunday since we were singing a Bach Cantata complete with brass band and timpani. We also went back in the afternoon to sing for the confirmation service. This afternoon was pretty laid back. Naps have become precious, and I made sure not to miss Brothers & Sisters (a TV show I enjoy). Even though I wasn't going to worry about my list of things to do this weekend, I did get around to making one of two valances for the baby room! Hopefully I will get the second one done this week. Josh already put the one valance up, so here it is! The colors aren't completely accurate, probably because I took the picture after dark, but you get the idea. (And yes, the window needs a new screen.)

We're still here!

Just want to let any of you who still check our website know that I haven't completely forgotten about it! It's been neglected for the past month...or two...but my goal is to start posting again on a somewhat regular basis. Another thing I've been meaning to do is make our website private. So if you want to continue to see what the Jagdfelds are up to, make sure I have your email address so I can make sure you have access!

One quick thing I can update you on is that we've been getting to know another couple from church and doing dinner with them. Last night we hosted them at our house and made a greek chicken dish wrapped in fillo with italian potato salad and green beans. It was DELICIOUS! I'm excited for my leftover lunch today. They brought homemade baklava with them for dessert! YUM! Food with friends always makes for a great evening.

The bedroom drapes are finished!

Both sets of drapes are finally finished! Our room looks so much cozier. Only a couple more things yet, and then our bedroom will be complete. I need to figure out what I want to put on the wall above our bed, and we need to order/purchase our bed frame. The wall decorations will be easy. The bed frame on the other hand will be a while yet. I designed the bed frame and will have it custom made by an amazing woodworker....once we are able to save up enough to afford it!

Maksymetz Reunion

We had a great time traveling with Josh's family to Winnipeg, Dauphin, and Gilbert Plains, Manitoba this past July. We met lots, but not all, of the Maksymetz extended family over the three day reunion. Events included everything from grave blessings to weenie roasts to Ukrainian dancing!
