Valentines...Week!

Wow! I feel just spoiled! The Friday before Valentine’s Day, Josh decided to give me my gift early...and iPod shuffle (that cute little pink thing clipped to my sleeve)! He even had “For My Valentine” engraved on the back. Totally a gift my music geek would give, and I love it!

Next...Josh and I went to the John Mayer concert in Saint Paul on Tuesday the 13th. It was a gift from our friend Blake for Christmas. The concert was AWESOME! We had such a great time jammin’ out to the tunes, and afterwards went for a bite to eat at Old Chicago.

On Valentine’s Day, Josh surprised me with flowers and a card waiting for me when we got home from work. I didn’t even have time to smell them because we had 5 minutes to change and get ready to go out. Suggested apparel for the evening: jeans and a sweatshirt. I thought it was an interesting suggestion for Valentine’s Day, but the mystery made it even more exciting. After our fast 5 minutes at home, we hopped in the car and headed towards the twin cities. We found ourselves downtown Minneapolis and meeting up with Josh’s brother Jake. Jake and Josh exchanged something, and we were off again. Come to find out, Jake gave us free tickets to the Timberwolves game...sixth row tickets!!! (Thanks Jake!) It was the best Valentine’s date. Plus, the Timberwolves won! You can’t beat an evening of excitement, bratwursts, and fun with your one and only.

Back home after the game, Josh pulled out 2 pints of Dove ice cream (love that chocolate ganache) for dessert, and we popped in a movie. The fun just never seemed to end...

...and it didn’t. Friday, Josh made the dinner he was planning on making for us on Valentine’s day: filet mignon with some other yummy sides. I love it when Josh cooks, and it is always so tasty!

What a week! I am one lucky gal.

Yay for SNOW!

Joshua and I went skiing for a few hours on Saturday at Lebanon Hills Park right here in Eagan. There was plenty of snow to ski, however it would be nice to have a bit more so the pole tips don’t hit any rocks or dirt. We skied from the parking lot to the visitor’s center and back. The distance was at least a couple of miles. Josh wiped out right away while getting used to the skis, and I wiped out a little while later. At least we got our falls out of the way right off the bat. The park isn’t flat so we both got quite the workout going up some of those hills. Since another inch or two of snow fell on Sunday we’ll have to go again soon. Maybe next time we’ll bring our snow shoes along and tromp through the woods. I hope you are all able to get out and enjoy the snow!

Just Because...

I was volunteering at the Crossroads church office today when Joshua surprised me with these flowers arranged in a unique vase from Bachman’s. They’re absolutely beautiful! I thought it was because I finally got a job, but he said it was “Just because.” I don’t think I could have asked for a more perfect match in a mate. Josh and I were talking yesterday about how much more we’ve gotten to know each other since getting married and about how much that has made our love grow. We are both so blessed.

The job that I finally got is an assistant teacher position at the Eagan YMCA. I’ll be working in their child care with the nine to sixteen month old infants! I’m excited to finally be doing something outside of the house...and I think Josh is hoping the job will eliminate any baby fever I might have had. ;) The job is just part-time (8am to 3pm) so I’ll continue looking for any architecture opportunities.

Merry Christmas

Josh and I are excited for our first Christmas as a married couple! We cut down a tree from a tree farm in Lakeville and just finished decorating it with ornaments. We've already been to several Christmas celebrations including a couple open houses, Josh's work party (including dinner and the Denver and the Mile High Orchestra concert), and a production of "The Gospel according to SCROOGE." This past Sunday Josh and I sang portions of Handel's Messiah with the choir at church. Everyone said it sounded great! It was fun to sing some classical music again with a choir. It's been great so far to prepare for the season in so many different ways through concerts, worship, fellowship, service, and music. We hope you too are finding ways to prepare for our Savior's birth!
