The bedroom drapes are finished!

Both sets of drapes are finally finished! Our room looks so much cozier. Only a couple more things yet, and then our bedroom will be complete. I need to figure out what I want to put on the wall above our bed, and we need to order/purchase our bed frame. The wall decorations will be easy. The bed frame on the other hand will be a while yet. I designed the bed frame and will have it custom made by an amazing woodworker....once we are able to save up enough to afford it!

Maksymetz Reunion

We had a great time traveling with Josh's family to Winnipeg, Dauphin, and Gilbert Plains, Manitoba this past July. We met lots, but not all, of the Maksymetz extended family over the three day reunion. Events included everything from grave blessings to weenie roasts to Ukrainian dancing! Here are a few photos from our trip:Josh's grandma's house (the one on the right) that she grew up in out in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba.

Cherries & Sunny Beaches

There's so much to tell about our trip to Oregon! Since I'm not getting to this post until a couple weeks after the trip, I'm thinking you should just take a look at our photos to get an idea as to what our vacation out West was like. Click here to see a web gallery of all our photos! It was a long trek out and back, but all the time spent with family was more than worth it. Oh, and sometime when you see us next you'll have to ask us about the "Cigarette Butt Motel!"

Way too busy.

I'm currently reading a book called "the not so big life" by the architect Sarah Susanka. I definitely need to put some of what I'm reading into action because we are way too busy and never can get anything done that we want to do. It's too bad nothing will change for a long time. I don't think we'd make it without our part-time evenings and weekend jobs. Sigh. Where is Josh by the way?! We both worked tonight; it's 10:30pm and he's still not home...

Since I don't have time to write all about our wonderful vacation we took out to Oregon, you'll just have to look through our pictures at gallery.me.com/jagdfelds and get an idea of what our trip was like. So much fun!

Biker Chick!

Josh decided to spoil me on Memorial Day after we got back from hiking at Taylors Falls, MN by taking me to my favorite store...REI! I've wanted a nice bike ever since college but haven't been able to fork up the money and just do it. I test rode a couple bikes and decided on the Novara Metro bike. It's a hybrid urban bike, so it is both comfortable and fairly fast. That same week there was a free class at REI just for women covering basic bike maintenance. Of course, I ended up spending more money because I was told of all these things I needed if I get a flat tire or need to clean my chain! Then on top of that, I needed a little seat bag to put those things in so I would have the extra tube, patch kit, and tire levers with me when I get a flat. I'm sure it's bound to happen someday. I've been commuting by bike to work quite a bit and usually see shards of glass everywhere, so it's only a matter of time. My commute is only 4 miles. There are a couple roads with bike lanes and a bike trail that I take under the highway. Don't worry, I do wear a helmet. The picture was taken right after we got home from REI, and I just had to try it out in the alleyway before searching the basement for my helmet. I've biked to work at least twice a week since getting the bike, and I'm going to try to bike every day I don't work at REI in the evening. My next bike purchase will be a back rack and either an awesome basket or panniers. I also need to get a bike computer, but I've been tallying my miles and am at 63 miles so far!
