There's nothing quite like a free big band concert in the city park with your friends.

Memorial Day

Since our plans for camping were cancelled due to no vacancy at any campgrounds, we spent the day going new places and experiencing new things in Minneapolis. In the morning we went to Minnehaha Park to take a short hike and see Minnehaha Falls. Afterwards, we proceeded downtown to the Metrodome to watch a Minnesota Twins baseball game with our friends Bryan and Kari. It was my (Alyssa’s) first Twins game. It ended up being a great game as the Twins won 10-4 against the White Sox.

Four Patch Posie

My latest quilt creation! This quilt was a lot of fun to put together. You basically use one fabric to create all the kaleidescope four patches, add some borders, quilt it together, and VOILA!

UMYs 2007

Josh, me and the whole gang (Jim, Bryan, Shane, Ben, Ryan, Josh, Alyssa, Kari) spent St. Patty’s day weekend in St. Cloud at the United Methodist Youth Conference. The guys make up the band LPW (Last Place Winner), and Kari and I are the backup singers/hand motions/jump around girls. It was a ton of fun! We had the privilege to lead 800 or so kids in praise and worship while also being able to hang out with friends and family. Josh’s mom, Jim’s mom and Ben’s mom came too. We have a ton of pictures, but I will just post a few. If Josh will help me figure it out, I’ll try to include a music/video clip of one of the songs. I wish this conference happened more than just once a year! Hopefully the band will get invited to JUMYS, and then we can go twice a year!

The perfect end to winter

The winter storm Minnesota was in this weekend wasn’t much of a storm, but it sure brought snow! It all started to come down on Saturday and consequently ruined our lunch and dinner dates. Although, I don’t think many people will complain about a lazy day inside!

It took us about 10 minutes and some shoveling to get our car out of the garage the next morning for church. Thank goodness the roads were mostly cleared, otherwise we would not have made it. In the afternoon, our friend Blake came over for some old fashioned fun in the snow...snowball fights, snow angels, etc. I attempted a snowman, but the snow was too fluffy.

Dinner was amazing! I made a hearty meal of potatoes, beef bourguignon and biscuits. Mmmm. The only bad thing about the day was that I got sick. :( I think it’s just a nasty cold, but I hope it goes away soon!
